Exploring innovative solutions with
Mechatronics Engineering
Hi, my name is Troy Radam. I'm a fourth-year mechatronics student at Ontario Tech University.
As a student at Ontario Tech University (OTU) and a previous intern at Bluewrist, I have had the opportunity to learn and explore many different engineering fields. My insatiable passion for engineering and innate curiosity is what drives me to inspire others and explore engineering designs that transcend obstacles that modern engineering currently faces or are yet to be realized.
Why Pick Engineering?
My underlying passion for engineering comes from the opportunity of creating an abstract idea and applying scientific principles to produce something tangible. The opportunity to provide meaningful solutions to innovate society and improve lives is what makes engineering important to me. Thus, the elegance of engineering design is the ability to explore new perspectives that create unique solutions to a rapidly growing world. My hope is that I reflect these values onto my projects because it’s not just about what I built but more about what they represent.
What are some things I do?
Designing
Throughout my studies at OTU, I have gained experience in using software such as MATLAB, NI LabVIEW, Solidworks, NX 12, and Multisim. Having the opportunity to use these software in my studies have helped me explore important engineering concepts and learn the process of engineering design in projects.
Prototyping
Emerging trends and technology is an exciting space to observe. One of these technologies I frequently use is Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF). The use of 3D printing coupled with CAD software has also allowed me to create fun and easy to prototype projects.
Applying
Applying important concepts such as PID control, Analog/Digital conversion, or the gating sequence of an H-bridge is always a fun challenge to overcome. Being able to implement these solutions through C++, Java, and Python programming or skills such as soldering and woodworking provides a medium where I can practice being creative.
